Tom has been a practicing Berks County attorney since he received his J.D. from Temple University School of Law in 1980. He is skilled in a wide range of business, transactional, contractual, real estate and intellectual property matters, including formation and operation of corporations and limited liability companies, franchising advice, zoning appeals and land use matters, commercial leasing and real estate acquisitions, and trademark and copyright application and enforcement matters.

In addition to representing numerous clients in a wide variety of business, commercial and real estate related matters, Tom has also shared his knowledge by presenting seminars to his colleagues in continuing legal education seminars sponsored by the Berks County Bar Association on topics including shareholder disputes, trademarks, trade secret protection and issues for emerging business enterprises. He has also presented to the Berks County Chamber of Commerce on topics including lawful termination of employment, compliance with Family Medical Leave Act, privacy and confidentiality in the workplace, legal issues for small emerging businesses and compliance with wage and hour requirements, among others. For several years, Tom was a regular instructor with the Berks Minority Business Development Council business start-up program. He has also spoken on Berks Cable Television’s “Ask a Lawyer” program on business topics, living wills and unclaimed property.

Tom served for many years on the Berks County Chamber of Commerce Small Business Committee, acted as Chairman in 1986-87, and received the Chamber’s “Small Business Person of the Year” Award in 1987. He has served on the boards of Berks Camp Fire, Inc., Berks County Art Council, Berks County CYO and participated for several years as an instructor for the Berks Leadership program and as a fundraiser for United Way.

Tom and his wife, Carmela Capellupo-Beaver, married in 1975, and have four grown children, in addition to Tom’s older son. In his spare time, Tom enjoys reading books and articles on particle physics and theories on cosmology.
